Homeschoolers need to learn about the legend of Lena Horne

I’m still learning, you know. At 80, I feel there is a lot I don’t know… Lena Horne

Our national treasure Lena Horne has passed, let your homeschoolers hear her legendary voice, read her story, see her style…our children are our treasures and should know how valuable they are to us.
Education’s purpose is to replace an empty mind with an open one.

  1. I am impressed to see posted on your site. I refer your blog to serious parents who call me, frustrated and finally at the point where they are willing to step up and take charge, drop the negative language they are taught to support school’s negative attitudes about their children’s education. Thank you for posting. We have been doing this for two generations of helping parents find and manage the genius that is within every child, allowing them to be the creative and intelligent humans we were all created to be. My children are very grown, very successful, very self assured, none are wealthy, but they will be when I die. Do you know how much is saved by raising brilliant children. Non intelligent kids are costly – more so than the cost of a four year college education.

I am going to do an observation this week at a local public school (this is when I go observe what is occurring for a student the teacher or student does not know me or why I am there.) This is 7 year old first grader who I am told is very intelligent – the mother is getting the calls from teacher with reports that her son “did not line up at the flag pole on the school yard…” When I told her this is early training for lining up in the fenced prison yard, she was shocked. I told her that there are schools where children do not line up and they grow up to be intelligent beings. I am always perplexed that parents will berate their children trying to make them do what the teacher tells them and try to make these demeaning policies and rules make sense to intelligent children until by 4th grade they and the children being to believe that the child has no ability to get from one place to the other without lining up at “the flag pole.”
