A high school home schooler asked a stirring question about the shooting at Fort Hood, if we honor our veterans every year – why would a soldier shoot other soldiers he lives with?
Not a question with a simple answer, however the explanation began with – Veterans Day is a time for remembrance of those who have fought for our freedom and exhibited the characteristics: ‘honor, courage, and commitment’. We all sometimes forget to live that way, and on that fateful day the consequences are shown by terrible reactions to the pressures of this world.
For most high school home school children of veterans everyday is Veterans Day and it’s hard to understand a world where ‘honor, courage, and commitment’ are not shown by example…
